Wednesday 28 July 2010 Another GC.com Update

Post  Admin on Mon Jul 26, 2010 3:35 pm

Please be aware, there is a GC.com update coming down 28 July 2010 at 1PM PDT. GCzII may stop working at that time. If you need to, download all the caches you need for the next week before that time!

"CACHE NOT FOUND"

Ignore me, it's obviously way past my bed time. I just tried searching for a cache with a spelling mistake in my search and got the 'cache not found' error, so suspected the worst.

Seems to be working Laughing

Did a new cache list and downloaded it.
Reload cache page also works.

Enough to go caching...

If I find one today, I'll let you know. Embarassed

Crikey, this has got us all twitchy and pacing up and down like expectant Fathers in the maternity ward.

Will our baby be healthy? bounce

Too funny. 5h to go!

Anyway, I have downloaded all the caches I think I will need for the next week, so I think I am OK whatever happens.

Have to admit that when GCz breaks it's more of an inconvenience than a show stopper.
I only really miss the ability to post logs and to double check a cache hasn't been disabled since my last GPX file while I am out.

Everything else comes either from GSAK or Pocket Queries.

Like you, I think it pays not to become too reliant on the 'online' functions of GCz.

The software will always work perfectly in 'offline' mode, so it isn't like we lose the whole thing.

Well, the site is down. We will soon see if GCzII has survived.

Web site back up and downloading cache details not in the cache_DB folder produces our old friend:
"Cache Not Found"
